Sister Veronica O'Reilly

A Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, ON, died in Pembroke on the 12th day of March, 2012 in the 73rd year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn are the members of her Religious Community, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, James and Mary (nee Lamer), brothers, John and Joseph, and sisters, Agnes Thompson, Alice Costello, May McMahon, Sister Anna CSJ London, Rose Pringle and Margaret Shea. Sister Veronica was born in St. Columban, on October 13th, 1915. She entered the Community on September 7th, 1939, pronouncing final vows on August 8th, 1944. For the next eleven years she served in various areas, including Windsor, St. Teresa's Church, Ottawa, and the Convent of Mary Immaculate, Pembroke. In 1953, Sister Veronica attended the School of Nursing, Pembroke Hospital, graduating in 1956. Her nursing career led her to the Sault Ste. Marie General, The Pembroke General, St. Anthony's Hospital, Esterhazy Sk. and St. Joseph's, Lestock, Sk. Other areas included Marianhill Residence, and as a volunteer in Pastoral Care at Riverside Hospital, St. Teresa's Parish, and the General Hospital, Ottawa. Her final years were lived peacefully at Shalom Residence, Pembroke. Resting at the Marguerite Centre, 700 Mackay Street, on Thursday, March 15th, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Evening Prayer at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Liturgy at Marguerite Centre Chapel on Friday, March 16th, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Columba’s Cemetery.
