Obituary for Ernest Bertram Sampson

Ernest Bertram Sampson
SAMPSON, Ernest Bertram “Ernie” - Passed away peacefully on July 14, 2015 in his 83rd year. Ernest was the beloved husband of Mary Sampson (Charette). They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 7th, 2015. He will be sadly missed by his children; Deborah (Ken Lemke), Ernest Jr. (Mary Hellingman) and Joseph. Ernest proudly served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. He spent a second career as a jail guard at the Pembroke Jail. In his retirement, Ernest enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; Angela and Rebecca, Eric and Andrea; great granddaughter, Marla and step grandchildren; Charlotte and Hannah. He was an avid gardener and cherished the time he spent in his beautiful garden. Ernest has gone ‘home’ to be with his brother Henry, sister Eileen, half-brother Frank and parents, Harry and Irene. He is survived by his sister, Lorraine, who resides in Sackville, NS, his ‘beloved east coast’. Ernest lived his life by example. A poppy bloomed in his garden on the morning Ernest passed on; a fitting salute to a fine gentleman. Respecting Ernie's wishes, there will a private family visitation. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Neville Funeral Home, 491 Isabella St., Pembroke on Thursday, July 16th, 2015 at 1 p.m. Online Condolences may be left at www.nevillefuneralhome.ca
