If there was one teacher that made me want to learn, it was Mrs. Neville.

Oh! so fondly remembered.

With sympathy.

Condolence: I know that you have wonderful memories of your Mom, and that these will sustain you in the days to come. When I would take my Mom to Mass at Marianhill, I volunteered to bring others to Mass, and would make sure that your Mom was one of my charges. I would tell her who I was, and there was a sparkle in her eye of recognition.

She was so very proud of you Bill, and you were a wonderful son.

God Bless.

Condolence: Dear Bill and Family,

Madame Neville was more than my high school French teacher , she was my friend . Mary Neville has left behind an abundance of happy memories.

I remember when Bill and I were on the same peewee hockey team Mary was the de facto coach , trainer, cheerleader and manager ! She was always in the middle of the action exuding confidence and a joie de vivre that was unmatched by anyone . Mrs. Neville had a dazzling personality and a mischievous grin that she must have purloined from a leprechaun . She knew how to enjoy life and instilled that love of life in anyone she met.

Bill, count yourself as blessed because you had the opportunity of a lifetime to have had this scintillating person as your Mother. You and your family have my most sincere condolences .

Thanks for the memories Mary . Merci pour tous !

Condolence: Mary Neville was my French teacher throughout my five years at Pembroke Collegiate Institute. What I hope we remember about Mrs. Neville is her tremendous enthusiasm for the subject and her sense of humour. And she had great self-confidence. Sometimes it is difficult for a teacher to have one of her own children in her class, but Mrs. Neville was just as willing to throw a piece of chalk at Bill - if she had to - as she was at the rest of us.
As Joyce Cary wrote, "The most effective teacher will always be biased,
for the chief force in teaching is confidence and enthusiasm."

Condolence: Billy-
Remembering you, your mother and father with much love and admiration from visitation with our GreatAunt Sue when we were with our grandmother,Maggie Thorpe-Hamilton-Abberley, down the street across the road from the old cemetary for the GREY NUNS. My brother, Peter and my cousins Betty Ann and Susan(Gemmell)played with you on those special trips.

I remember one visit of your parents and Aunt Sue to Lake Penage (west of Sudbury)to visit Aunt Freda and Uncle Welland Gemmell. There was a very heated debate between your father and my uncle who, at the time was an MPP in the FROST government with either the MINES or LANDS AND FORESTS portfolio. I suspect that your father and my uncle sat, politically, in differing pews! I was young. This was the first time I had ever experienced a 'debate' and learned then that red faces, loud voices and name calling could be part of the scenario, with no grudges but much satisfaction-win or lose!

Billy, Uncle Welland, like your father, died a very young man. Aunt Freda, like your mother, has been a widow for a long time.(Susan was in kindergarten and BettyAnn was in grade 2 when their father died.)I especially want you to know that our precious Aunt Freda,my mother's sister, will be celebrating her 98th on July 12th, Sunday...in Sudbury where she's in a seniors' residence. She uses a walker with a wheelchair for events, continues to drain the library of its books, and watches CNN for comments on what's happening globally. She was born in Pembroke and graduated from Pembroke Collegiate!

I shall be thinking about special times in Pembroke over the next few days and when I think of your mother, I'll remember a feisty woman with feet firmly planted and a strong constitution.I was a teenager and she spoke to me as an adult, sharing daily highlights and whatever was important at the time. She was important to us.

You and your family will miss Mary, immensely. Your MEMORY BANKS will be overflowing with happy times. Enjoy these memories forever.

Pat Reid-Kemptville, Ontario.

Condolence: Dear Bill and family:

I was saddened to learn of your mother's passing. She was my home room teacher in Gr. 10 and my french language teacher throughout my years at PCI. I remember her fondly for trying to instill in me some understanding of our Country's other official language and which became very beneficial later in my career with the Federal public service. Thank you Mrs. Neville.
