Condolence: Sister Rita was one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of knowing. She was an intellectual and a compassionate person who would help anyone she could. Sister Rita was a great friend to my parents Amelda and Gerald and someone that I had the immense pleasure of knowing as I grew up. It is her large smile and hands reaching outwards to grasp yours as she greeted you that will be forever etched in my memory. A dear soul has gone to a wonderful place.

Condolence: Sister Rita was a great leader for our Sault College nursing program and influenced many of us in our education and careers. Stern when needed, kind and supportive to many and a fun social lady when time permitted. May she RIP.

Condolence: Sister Rita (Sr. St. Leonard) was a remarkable woman whose charm, wit and devotion to purpose was an inspiration. She was a very important influence in my still formative years as a student nurse and I believe that the values of integrity, compassion and Christian love were at the heart of everything she endeavored to instill in all of the students of St. Mary's. Later, as a member of the faculty, her leadership and guidance gave all of us the opportunity to grow and develop our potentials in an atmosphere of integrity, mutual respect and dedication to the highest standards of our profession. Her wonderful sense of humor was always just below the surface and allowed for a lot of fun too. Sr. Rita maintained a constant interest in the lives and well-being of each of us as the years passed and she became more than a mentor. She was a great friend and I will miss her dearly. I must say too that I will always be grateful for my years spent with the Grey Sisters at the General Hospital and I know that they will always be remembered fondly, both individually and as a religious order by a great many of the residents of Sault Ste. Marie.

Condolence: There are just too many things to say about our beautiful Aunt Rita to summarize in a short paragraph. We can say, however, that she was the brightest ray of sunshine to grace the earth and always had a beautiful smile, along with a kind word to offer all who came in contact with her. She was an integral part of the Kennedy family and will be missed every day. We will miss our weekly telephone chats and summer visits to Pembroke, where we were warmly welcomed by the staff of Shalom Residence.

Aunt Rita, thank you for sharing your love and the love of God with us. You taught us much that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. Thank you for your prayers, but mostly, thank you for you!
