A Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, ON, died in Shalom Residence on the 18th day of January, 2010 in the 62nd year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn are the members of her religious community, devoted brother-in-law, Ed Viau (wife Therese),Sudbury, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Moses Patrick and Margaret Josephine (Giroux), brothers, Paul, Leo, and Gerard, sisters, Aurore, Gladys Wormer, Rita Viau, Yvonne and Sister Armandine Nadeau g.s.i.c. She was born on March 9th, 1924, in Deep River. Sister Muriel entered the Community on September 7th, 1943, pronouncing final vows on July 27th, 1948. Her assignments involved Dietary Supervision in various areas, including, the Convent of Mary Immaculate, Pembroke, St. Patrick's Home, Ottawa, Eganville, and in Rock Sound, Bahamas. For five years Sister Muriel graciously served as resident chauffeur for the Sisters at the Motherhouse. In 1997, she suffered a serious accident, which left her incapacitated, requiring care at Shalom Residence, Pembroke, where she continued to live in prayerful acceptance. Resting at the Marguerite Centre, 700 Mackay Street, on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Evening Prayer at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Liturgy at Marguerite Centre Chapel on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Columba’s Cemetery.
