Condolences

Condolence From: Pat Sweetnam
Condolence: Dear Sharon and the Irvine family I served with Bernie in 3 Cdo and it was certainly the highlight of my time in the Army. I remember him fondly for many things; one special remembrance was watching the faces of troopers peering out of several barracks windows any time after 0615 each morning. This was because even though PT ostenstibly started at 0630, it ACTUALLY began whenever Sgt-Maj Irvine stepped on to the square - hence "Bernie-time." Like all of the good leaders, he tempered his devotion to duty with sympathy for all of our all-to-human failings - he had a good heart and great good humour. Please accept my sincere sympathy in your time of bereavement.

Condolence From: LCol (Ret) Al Campbell, OStJ,MSM,CD
Condolence: It was with great sadness I learned of Mr Irvine's passing. I had the distinct pleasure of serving with Bernie for 5 years at Blackdown CTC. Beneath the Sgt Major exterior he projected so well, there lurked a massive heart that cared deeply for the welfare of the cadets and the staff. The cadets of course saw through that attempt at a gruff exterior and they respected and loved Bernie, as did we all. The RCR, the Airborne Regiment and the Canadian Cadet Organization have suffered a great loss. We are comforted by the fact that we had the marvelous opportunity to serve with and know CWO Irvine. Well done old soldier...go in peace
