I had the pleasure to once again serve with him in Germany and Petawawa. Rory was always a straight shooter with the utmost professionalism and dedication towards his fellow soldiers as well as his family. A good friend, a good mentor, a great leader and a great loss to all that knew him. May he rest in peace.

Condolence From: Rick O'Neil
Condolence: Dear O'Connor family, I was extremely shocked and saddened to hear today that Rory has tragically passed away well before he should have. Over a 6 year period in Petawawa from 2000 to 2006 Rory and I worked very closely together in 2 Svc Bn, at the Brigade HQs as well as on a deployment to Kabul. Needless to say we spent a fair bit of time together in different parts of the world. As an advisor and confidant he had a tremendous influence on me. Always ready to assist and provide sage advice or more often, detailed solutions to help overcome any of the challenges we might be facing. I will fondly remember Rory as an excellent mentor to the junior officers who worked with him as well as often to myself who he worked for. Rory’s support and friendship certainly assisted me in my career and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to work so closely with him and am fortunate to have gotten to know him. Usually one who has lot’s to say, I find myself at searching for the right words to express my sympathies and condolences. I sincerely hope that kind words combined with the support of family and friends will give you strength during this very difficult time.

Condolence From: John Page
Condolence: My sincere and deepest condolences to Debbie and the O'Connor family on the loss of Rory. Our lives had crossed paths on several occasions including our time at High School and CEGEP; soldiering with 28 (Ottawa) Service Battalion on a part-time basis; service as Private and Corporals in 2 Service Battalion Petawawa, and again in Supply & Transport Company of 4 Service Battalion in Germany. We were both fortunate enough to be selected for University Training for Non-Commissioned Members, completing degrees and receiving commissions as officers in the Logistics Branch, and serving together (or following one another) on various Domestic and International deployments. As a personal friend, Rory will be deeply missed. In the recent past, he had taken up the torch to help me form a local chapter of the Canadian Forces Logistics Association in Petawawa, which was coming to fruition at his untimely passing. John Page President, National Executive Canadian Forces Logistics Association; and, President, Ottawa Service Battalion Association.
