Obituary for Betty-Lynn Lafrance
LAFRANCE, Betty-Lynn - passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and her pug Ginger, on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at the age of 59 years.
Betty-Lynn Lafrance (nee Hammel) of Petawawa, beloved wife to her devoted husband Guy Lafrance. Loving mother of Ashley Lely (Dmitri), Petawawa; Nicole Shankland (Jeff), Petawawa; and Nathan Lafrance (Ally), Pembroke. Cherished grandmother of Kaea & Sya; Payton & Madison; and Avery, Ben & Calea. Daughter of the late Lloyd & June Hammel (nee Lewis), and dear sister of David Hammel (Susanne), Joan Buder (late Bob), Karen Quade (Barry) & Barbara-Anne Leduc-Larocque (late Gord & late Rob). Predeceased by brother Stewart Hammel (Carol) & sister Katherine Greer (Mickel). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Betty lived her life in such a selfless, caring and kind way. For many years known as 'Coach Betty', coaching gymnastics. She engaged the fun, fitness and fundamentals of the sport and positively influenced the lives of so many young athletes. In later years, she became the hardworking, dedicated supervisor of the paint department at Home Depot that customers counted on to enrich their lives.
Respecting Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation at the Neville Funeral Home, 491 Isabella St., Pembroke on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 2 to 4:00 and 7 to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Petawawa on Monday, January 30 at 10:30 a.m. Spring Interment in St. Columba’s Cemetery.
