Obituary for James Alfred "Jim" McGilligan

MCGILLIGAN, James A. - Canadian MIlitary Police - Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517- Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Pembroke - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim McGilligan at Marianhill surrounded by his loving family after a courageous and lengthy battle with multiple illnesses on Saturday, February 29th, 2020 in his 83rd year. James A. McGilligan of Tillsonburg, beloved husband of Justine “Tina” Marie McGilligan (nee Lane). Father of Debbi McGilligan, Lori (the late Mark) Popplewell and Kimberly McGilligan. Caring grandfather of Stephanie, Nolan, Christopher, Amanda (Mike) McGilligan-Chaisson, Karissa (Derrick) and Nodyia (Ben). Caring great grandfather of Trinnitie, Aiva, Lincoln and Paisley. Dear brother of Fred (Terry) and Allan (Julie) McGilligan. Sadly missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews in the USA and Canada. Predeceased by parents James and Kathleen McGilligan (nee Vince), by granddaughter Kari Popplewell, by sisters Janet (the late Joe) Smith, Barbara (the late Bill) Hawley, and by brother Robert McGilligan. Respecting Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Petawawa on Saturday, August 15th, 2020 at 11 a.m. DUE TO THE CURRENT RESTRICTIONS REGARDING COVID-19, A LIMITED NUMBER OF PEOPLE ARE PERMITTED AT THE CHURCH AT ANY GIVEN TIME - FACE MASKS/COVERINGS ARE REQUESTED FOR FUNERAL MASS. Please feel free to bring your own face mask/covering or one will be supplied to you upon arrival. (Please call the funeral home at 613-732-7481 if you wish to attend). Interment in St. Columba’s Cemetery, Pembroke. Special thanks to our family, friends, CCAC, Bayshore, Care Partners, his PSW Alyssa Firlotte and the caring Staff on the 2nd Floor of Marianhill.
