Obituary for James Patrick "Pat" Grace

GRACE, James Patrick. With heavy hearts the Grace family announces the passing of their beloved father Pat Grace on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021 at the age of 89 years. Pat Grace of Pembroke, dearly loved husband for 63 years of the late Maureen Grace (nee Freemark). Proud and loving father of Nancy (Denis Levasseur), Janice (Brady Stewart), Karen (Darryl Thrasher), Michael (Karen Kaeding), Andy (Jeff Sansone) and Peggy (Andrew Howarth). Forever loved Grandpa of Luc, Jaclyn, Danielle, Brett, Blair, Krista (San), Devinne (Geoff), Scott (Erica), Adam (Blaire), Megan and Brian. Great Grandpa of Oliver, Emma, Leah and Madaline. Predeceased by infant son Joseph Terry, son-in-law Kirk Syrie, and brothers Ken (the late Doreen) and Bill (the late Noella) (Susan). First cousin and brother-in-law of Louise Freemark. Pat will forever be remembered for his deep love and commitment to his family. He was born in Renfrew ON to parents Jack and Jane (née Shirley) Grace and moved to Pembroke with Maureen in 1956 when he joined Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. After AECL and several years with Metropolitan Life, Pat moved on to become a highly respected local sales representative with Labatt’s Breweries for over twenty years, a position that played to his sharp mind, his love of sports, his friendly manner, and his knowledge and respect for the establishments and people of the Ottawa Valley. He and Maureen enjoyed many social gatherings with family and with their K-40 friends, and they valued the company and support of their many good friends and neighbours. Pat had a quick wit and humour, which he shared even in his last days. He was a loving and protective father and his advice and wisdom will continue to guide his family. We are deeply grateful to be blessed by his life. Respecting Pat’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Wednesday morning, March 31 at 11:00 o’clock at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 280 Lourdesview Drive, Pembroke. FACE MASKS/COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE MASS. Please feel free to bring your own face mask/covering or one will be supplied to you upon arrival. Spring interment St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Renfrew. As an expression of sympathy and in recognition of Pat’s lifelong love of dogs, donations to the Ontario SPCA - Renfrew County Branch would be appreciated.
