Obituary for Rev. Patrick Brady McNamara

Reverend Patrick Brady McNamara
Priest of the Diocese of Pembroke
Peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, on March 3rd, 2021 fortified by the Sacraments of the Church, in his 80th year and 52nd year of priesthood. Son of the late Lawrence McNamara and Elizabeth O’Malley. Mourned by his sister Betty (Michael) Maheux and his beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Donald and Jerry. Born in Eganville on September 8th, 1941, Father McNamara received his education and call to the priesthood in the midst of his family’s membership of St. James Parish, Eganville. Following his formation and studies at Resurrection College, Kitchener and St. Augustine Seminary, Toronto, Father McNamara was ordained to the priesthood on April 19th, 1969. As an assistant priest Father McNamara served at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Renfrew and Holy Name Parish, Pembroke. Father McNamara served as pastor of St. Ann Parish, Cormac, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Braeside, Our Lady of Lourdes, Pembroke, St. Francis Xavier, Renfrew, Our Lady of Fatima, Renfrew, and finally at St. Michael Parish, Douglas, St. Pius, Osceola and Sacred Heart, Cobden. Following retirement as pastor in 2017 Father McNamara continued his priestly ministry among the religious communities of Pembroke and at Marianhill. Rite of Reception at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Pembroke on Sunday, March 7th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and former parishioners are invited to pay their respects at Our Lady of Lourdes Church from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend the Vigil Prayers at 6:30 p.m. with the Most Reverend Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R. presiding. Please follow all social distancing and mask requirements when attending the church. Please feel free to bring your own face mask/covering or one will be supplied to you upon arrival. The Mass of Christian Burial will be private. A recording of the Mass will be posted to the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish YouTube channel. Spring interment in the family plot of St. James Cemetery, Eganville. Memorial donations may be made to the Organ Restoration Fund of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Renfrew or to Hospice Renfrew.
