Obituary for Ruby Eleanor Gorin (Whitelock)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ruby Eleanor Gorin (nee Whitelock) on Wednesday, June 17th, 2020. Ruby succumbed after a short battle with Cancer and is now at peace. Ruby was born in 1934 to William and Grace Whitelock of Sundridge Ontario, the second of 8 children. She grew up in Sundridge and went on to study Nursing at St Joseph’s School of Nursing where she graduated in 1955. Ruby moved to Cold Lake Alberta where she met and married an Airmen named Bernard Gorin in 1956. As a military wife Ruby moved quite frequently and worked as an RN through out Canada. Ruby retired from nursing at 65 after more than 40 years as an RN. Despite a busy life Ruby found time to raise 6 children. Ruby was also involved with CGIT, Girl Guides and numerous other activities involving her children and the church. Ruby was never too busy to assist her fellow man. Ruby was predeceased by her husband of 40 yrs., Bernard, her eldest son Brian, and her brothers Glen, Keith and Bruce. She is survived by her brothers Dale and Carl and sisters Marie and Joan, her sons Mark and Jeffery and her daughters Eleanor, Valerie and Kelly, 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Ruby will be greatly missed by friends and family alike. The family would also like to thank the staff at Riverview Heights for all they did to help make moms last days a little more comfortable. Due to the constraints of Covid-19 regulations, A private funeral service will be held in the chapel, but the public is invited to share in this service online on Thursday, June 25th, 2020 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
