A Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, ON, died in Pembroke on the 28th day of August, 2020, in the 75th year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn are the members of her Religious Community, sister, Doreen (Bob) Fairbairn, and brother Leo, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Bartley and Gertrude (Brennan), step-mother, Mary (Whalen), sisters, Claire Cooney and Eileen Smith and brother, Howard. Sister Doris was born in Ottawa, on April 25, 1923. She entered the Community on January 8, 1946, pronouncing final vows on August 1, 1950. Her assignments involved Convent and Institutional Services as Dietary Supervisor, in Eganville, Ottawa, Pembroke, and Whitby, services as Pastoral Assistant in Kirkland Lake, and Pastoral Care worker in Timmins, the Sault Ste. Marie General Hospital, St. Patrick’s Home, Ottawa, and St. Anthony’s Hospital, Esterhazy Sk. In retirement, Sister Doris ministered at the Grey Sisters’ House of Hospitality and at St. Patrick’s Home. Her final years were lived peacefully at Caritas and Shalom Residences, Pembroke. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Lourdesview Drive, Pembroke, on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020. Sharing of Memories: 10:00 a.m. Funeral Liturgy: 10:30 a.m. Face covering and social distancing are required at the church and cemetery. Interment in St. Columba Cemetery. Arrangements by the
