Sister Marguerite Hennessy (Sister St. Marguerite), a Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, Ontario, died in Pembroke, ON. on the18th day of April, 2021 in the 62nd year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn her loss are the members of her Religious Community, niece Gabrielle Wishart, nephew Father Conlin Mulvihill, S.J., and nephew Tim of Toronto, as well as other nieces and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Patrick Joseph and Gabrielle Ellen (Morrissey), her brother, Jack and her sisters Mary and Jean. Sister Marguerite was born in Pembroke, on June 30, 1929. She entered the Community on September 12, 1959, pronouncing final vows on August 14, 1964. Having studied Commercial and worked for eight years prior to entering, she was assigned to the Office at the General Hospital, Sault Ste. Marie for eight years, after which she worked in the same position at the Pembroke General. Following a period of study, she moved to the Penetanguishene General Hospital in the personnel and purchasing department, as well as earning a Certificate in Health Services Administration through the C.H.A. Other assignments led her to Marianhill as Director of Finance, to Lestock, SK, as Administrator of St. Joseph’s Hospital, and to Sault Ste Marie, as Assistant Administrator. In 1993, she was elected to the Grey Sisters’ General Council, after which she assumed responsibility for the Grey Sisters’ Community Health System, as President. In retirement, she served as Coordinator of Shalom Residence, Pembroke, and for two years as the General Treasurer of the community. Sister Marguerite lived her final years peacefully at Shalom Residence. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation. A private Funeral Liturgy will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Pembroke. Again, due to the current restrictions, the funeral liturgy attendance will be restricted.
