Obituary for Sylvia "Sally" Ryan (Raymond)

RYAN, Sylvia “Sally” - Peacefully at Marianhill on Sunday, February 20th, 2022 in her 92nd year. Sally Ryan (nee Raymond) of Pembroke, beloved wife of the late Christie Ryan. Loving mother of Janice (Jean) Vaillancourt, Joyce Ryan (Miles Webster) and Susan Ryan (John Donlan). Caring grandmother of Aimée (Jacob) Antila and Andrée Vaillancourt. Survived by sister-in-law Rita (the late Leo) Raymond. Predeceased by parents John and Genevieve Raymond (nee Payne), by sister Margaret, and by brothers Leo and Walbert Raymond. A graduate of the Lorraine School of Nursing (Pembroke) in 1955, Sally took great pride in being a Registered Nurse with the Pembroke General Hospital for more than 30 years. After her retirement, Sally continued her compassionate care of others, spending a number of years volunteering in the Eating Assistance program at Marianhill, as well as a Eucharistic Minister at the hospital and in her parish. She likewise served her faith community as a member of both the Catholic Women’s League and the Choir. In her later years, many will likely remember her warm and cheerful welcome at the front doors of the Pembroke Regional Hospital as she encouraged you to support the fundraising efforts of the hospital. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Pembroke Regional Hospital as well as all the staff at Marianhill, in particular the staff on 1D-Wing, for their dedicated care and compassion. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Neville Funeral Home, 491 Isabella St., Pembroke on Sunday, February 27th, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Church, Chapeau, Quebec on Monday, February 28th, 2022 at 11 a.m followed by interment at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery, St. Joseph's, Quebec. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. DUE TO THE CURRENT RESTRICTIONS REGARDING COVID, FACE MASKS/COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE VISITATION AND/OR MASS. Online Condolences may be left at www.nevillefuneralhome.ca
