A Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, ON died in Shalom Residence on the 22nd day of July in the 79th year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn are the members of her Religious Community, her sister, Marguerite Burke, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Michael and Mary (Coady), her brothers, William, John, Thomas, Clarence, Norman, Leo and James (Brother Osmund F.S.C.). Sister St. Macrina was born in Eganville, on August 18th, 1918. She entered the Community on August 21st, 1935, pronouncing final vows on July 30th, 1940. A graduate of St. Marys School of Nursing, Sault Ste. Marie, she served in various institutions including The Pembroke General, The Sault Ste. Marie General, St. Joseph's and St. Michael's, Toronto. In retirement she ministered as Parish Assistant in Whitby and Thornhill Parishes, and as Pastoral Visitor at the Pembroke General and Marianhill Residence. Her final years were lived peacefully at Shalom Residence, Pembroke.
Resting at the Marguerite Centre, 700 Mackay Street, Pembroke, Ontario on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014 from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. followed by a Funeral Liturgy at the Marguerite Centre Chapel on at 2 p.m. Interment St. Columba’s Cemetery.
