CHAPUT (NEE CARROLL), Carmel Lillian - Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on Monday, April 13th, 2020 at the amazing age of 96 years. She will be reunited with her beloved husband Clayton Chaput (2000). Lovingly adored by children Kimberly (Bruce) Damaren, Glen (CarolAnne Wilson), Rosann (David) Rochon, Andrew (Cathy Coole) and Maureen (Brian) Clouthier. Cherished granny to 13 grandchildren: Cory (Jennah), Krysta, Sarah (Justin), Curtis (Melissa), Blair, Jason, Derek (Robin), Tyler (Megan), Caitlin (Jurgen), Bree, Jake, Courtney and Carley and great-granny to Reilly, Katie, Abbie, Hudson, Zoey, Violet and Ethan. Predeceased by parents Louis John and Annie (Legare) and siblings Wallace (Jacqueline), Ernest, Elaine (Ray), Cécile (Roger), Rita (Bernard), Marion (Linus), Mary (Neil) and Geraldine (Carl). Carmel will be greatly missed by sister-in-law Rejeanne Carroll and many nieces and nephews. Her passion was family. Carmel loved her parents and spoke of fond memories growing up in Montreal with her siblings; enjoying hockey games and dances. Her fondest memories were summers spent in Carroll’s Corner, Chapeau, Quebec, along the Ottawa River. Her siblings all inherited land where family cottages were built. Nowhere was she happier than there surrounded by her extended families. Carmel and her sisters, known as the “Golden Girls”, enjoyed their afternoons of reminiscing and cocktails, fish fry’s and evenings of bridge/euchre tournaments. Her life centred around her faith and caring for her family. A devoted mother, she loved baking, cooking, sewing and knitting. An avid fan of her kids and grandkids sports, Carmel would be caught cheering from the bleachers. Despite her dementia, Carmel in all her wit and positive humour, thoroughly enjoyed challenging her family to a game of euchre or rummy. Her family was blessed by her positive attitude. She has left us with a lifetime of beautiful memories. Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life will take place at a later date. In the meantime, the family wishes to honour Carmel by saying a prayer, spending time with loved ones, and a 4 o’clock cocktail card game. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Parish in Chapeau Quebec or the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. Arrangements by the

To the Chaput family,

I wish you my heartfelt condolences. A complete generation of Carroll is now gone but they have left a remarquable legacy. May you find comfort in all the amazing memories and great moments that we have all lived because of the kindness, strength, character, humour, faith and love that Carmel brought to us all. Thinking of you. Sharing but one of many wonderful moments.
