The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Genevieve Mary Layman can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

fun times

As a kid growing up I spent quite a lot of time with my Auntie Joyce and Uncle Murray, who of course were a hop skip and jump away from granny and grampa's house so naturally I went to visit all the time. I'm sure as all the grandkids remember picking blueberries and blackberries was  a shared memory with us all. And of course, they had to be perfect and clean before granny could sell them...and don;t you dare eat one! I'm sure a few of us rolled her cigarettes too! I was terrible at it and she gave me crap for only "half" filling them. I blame my sister Pam for not teaching me good enough :) Granny was always looking out for everyone, and she wasn't afraid to say it like it is! A quality she kept even until the very end. I can tell you all that her sense of humor was always intact, and the staff at Marianhill were always telling me how much they loved her and how sweet she was. She was always trying to help them out, sweeping the kitchen, folding laundry, and looking after the "babies". She did complain to me a few times that they didn't pay her enough! Oh granny....how I will miss you!

Love your "big-headed" granddaughter Julie
