Patricia (Tish) Stinson-Reid

Billy- Remembering you, your mother and father with much love and admiration from visitation with our GreatAunt Sue when we were with our grandmother,Maggie Thorpe-Hamilton-Abberley, down the street across the road from the old cemetary for the GREY NUNS. My brother, Peter and my cousins Betty Ann and Susan(Gemmell)played with you on those special trips. I remember one visit of your parents and Aunt Sue to Lake Penage (west of Sudbury)to visit Aunt Freda and Uncle Welland Gemmell. There was a very heated debate between your father and my uncle who, at the time was an MPP in the FROST government with either the MINES or LANDS AND FORESTS portfolio. I suspect that your father and my uncle sat, politically, in differing pews! I was young. This was the first time I had ever experienced a 'debate' and learned then that red faces, loud voices and name calling could be part of the scenario, with no grudges but much satisfaction-win or lose! Billy, Uncle Welland, like your father, died a very young man. Aunt Freda, like your mother, has been a widow for a long time.(Susan was in kindergarten and BettyAnn was in grade 2 when their father died.)I especially want you to know that our precious Aunt Freda,my mother's sister, will be celebrating her 98th on July 12th, Sunday...in Sudbury where she's in a seniors' residence. She uses a walker with a wheelchair for events, continues to drain the library of its books, and watches CNN for comments on what's happening globally. She was born in Pembroke and graduated from Pembroke Collegiate! I shall be thinking about special times in Pembroke over the next few days and when I think of your mother, I'll remember a feisty woman with feet firmly planted and a strong constitution.I was a teenager and she spoke to me as an adult, sharing daily highlights and whatever was important at the time. She was important to us. You and your family will miss Mary, immensely. Your MEMORY BANKS will be overflowing with happy times. Enjoy these memories forever. Pat Reid-Kemptville, Ontario.
